Code of conduct
As an American Yoga Council member school, we uphold a high standard of ethical, professional, and compassionate practice. Our Code of Conduct reflects our commitment to safe, respectful, and honorable yoga teaching both inside and outside the classroom.
1. Legal and Ethical Compliance
We teach in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We honor the rights, dignity, and well-being of every student and community member.
2. Integrity and Transparency
We represent our training, credentials, lineage, and experience honestly. We are clear and accurate about what students can expect from our programs and graduates.
3. Scope of Practice
We commit to teaching within the boundaries of our training and experience, referring students to qualified professionals when needs fall outside our scope.
4. Respectful Relationships
We cultivate a safe, inclusive environment that honors diversity of race, gender identity, age, ability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and belief systems. Professional boundaries are upheld consistently.
5. Embodied Community
We practice generosity, collaboration, and mutual support, fostering community over competition. We encourage continuing education, self-reflection, and personal growth in all teachers and facilitators.
6. Personal Ethical Commitment
In addition to these shared principles, each teacher and staff member is invited to articulate a personal ethical commitment grounded in yogic philosophy (such as the yamas and niyamas) that reflects how they will live and teach with integrity.
