Who this is for

This 6-week Somatics for beginners series supports anyone who wants to practice yoga asana safely and with excellence. Participants will engage in new and novel movements that support finding mobility from center outward. This is a not a series for someone who wants a fast-paced vinyasa, instead this series invites students to slow down and bring mindful attention to movement.

This 6-week series explore Somatics and mobilizing movements that helps students and practitioners build intuitive mind-body connection at center, understand the three core centers that support posture, and techniques that rid the body of unwanted tension. SomaYoga practice offers neuro-muscular techniques of Somatics to help students connect deeply a felt sense of body to mind.

What to expect

Each class includes a reminder of the core principles for the series and a mindful Somatics and Yoga mat practice. Expect a floor-based practice and limited time in standing postures.

Our focus for this series will be on building yoga skills rather than doing a fast paced practice. Our pace will be slow to build skills and offer a learning environment for all.

I am a student of Yoga and meditation 15+ years. I am certified a Hatha Vinyasa teacher, as well as a Yoga Therapist specializing in SomaYoga incl. neuro-muscular reeducation techniques for body and breath and the wisdom teachings of Patanjali's Yoga and the Himalayan Tradition.

After working in business education and earning two business degrees (MBA 2016, BBA 2008), Ali dove deeper into the practice and study of Yoga which had always given her more space to Just Be. Through facing difficulty and challenge (and navigating with practice!), we learn to be open to meeting ourselves just as we are. She comes to practice for the experience of being alive, and for cultivating the dynamic energies of being aware, awake, relaxed, and energized in her classes! She first studied Hatha Vinyasa Yoga with her teacher Alex Pfeiffer of 21st Century Yoga on the Mat-completing 300 hours of foundational training in 2018. Soon after, she received her 500-hour registered yoga teacher with Ann Maxwell and Molly McManus...
