Purpose

This advanced studies program transforms overwhelmed yoga teachers into confident, creative professionals through practical frameworks for sequencing and teaching. You'll master the balance between structure and spontaneity—moving from rigid formulas or "winging it" to creating effective, student-centered classes with ease. Through direct mentorship, ready-to-teach lesson plans and theme templates, and the S.E.R.V.E. Method, you'll develop your authentic teaching voice while building the professional skills needed for a sustainable, fulfilling teaching career.

What to expect

This advanced studies program bridges the gap between your 200-hour foundation and confident mastery. Whether you're fresh out of training or years into teaching, you'll gain practical frameworks for creating balanced, effective classes—without spending hours overthinking your plans. Through the S.E.R.V.E. Method, you'll develop your authentic teaching voice while building a comprehensive toolkit of ready-to-teach sequences, variations, and specializations. You'll move from following recipes to creating your own signature classes with confidence and ease.

Style/Lineage

Our approach balances physiological principles with practical teaching wisdom. Drawing from exercise physiology and kinesiology rather than rigid anatomical frameworks, this training emphasizes the 6-4-2 Sequencing Framework (six moves of the spine, four lines of the legs, two core actions) to ensure comprehensive, student-centered class design. We prioritize evidence-based education, cultural respect, and strong professional boundaries. Our teaching philosophy centers on empowering both teachers and students—positioning you as the guide, not the hero, in your students' transformative journeys.

Program Emphasis

Core competencies

AYC allows each school to state and evaluate the competencies each student acquires

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to…

General Knowledge
  1. Understand the physiological principles underlying effective yoga sequencing, including how the six moves of the spine, four lines of the legs, and two core actions work together to create balanced movement experiences.
  2. Explain the relationship between consistency and variety in class design, recognizing how purposeful repetition builds student confidence while intentional variation maintains engagement.
  3. Articulate professional boundaries and scope of practice for yoga teachers, distinguishing between yoga instruction, fitness training, and therapeutic interventions.
Professional Knowledge
  1. Develop efficient class planning systems using the S.E.R.V.E. Method (Structure, Experience, Repeat, Vary, Evolve), creating sequences that serve student needs without requiring excessive preparation time.
  2. Design and market specialized offerings such as workshops, series, and niche programs that generate additional income while deepening student connection.
  3. Implement professional business practices including clear communication, appropriate pricing, student retention strategies, and ethical marketing approaches.
Practice Skills
  1. Experience sequences fully in their own bodies before teaching them, developing embodied knowledge that informs confident, authentic instruction.
  2. Adapt pre-designed sequences for different class formats, student populations, and teaching contexts with clear intention rather than random variation.
  3. Maintain a personal practice that supports ongoing growth, self-care, and studenthood—recognizing that attention to one's own practice enhances teaching presence.
Teaching Skills
  1. Create comprehensive, physiologically balanced classes across a wide variety of styles using proven frameworks while developing signature approaches that reflect individual teaching voice.
  2. Cue transitions, timing, and breath with clarity and precision, using language that empowers students to make their own choices rather than enforcing conformity.
  3. Teach multi-level classes confidently, offering appropriate variations that meet diverse student needs while maintaining class coherence and flow.
