My yoga bio is a walkabout story of owning up, complete surrender, and falling in step with the guides who miraculously lit my path.
I first read the book Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse, because it was required reading in my 8th grade English class way back in 1988. The novel opened a curiosity in me that in many ways still presses me forward. But back then I didn’t have the awareness to recognize where the compass was pointing me.
I chose to study and work in art, then cooking, then fitness and wellness. I married a diplomat and moved around Europe raising our 3 kids. I looked like someone who ‘had it all figured out’ but was deeply disconnected. My internal star was in a different galaxy and I knew it. That’s where my yoga story picks back up– intuition, a knowing. A subtle but sincere nod to truth.
In my own experience, and now, in the work I do with others as a yoga educator, I have come to know that the gift of free will, which God has placed inside each of us, is the spark. Once it flickers, once we choose to see…. we are ready to receive. The most important receiving for me came in the form of teachers… guides… unexpected guests, all of whom came into my life at just the right time. Each of these people offering their unique gifts that helped me weave together an embodiment of wholeness, self-love, and knowing.
I opened SONDER ℠ STUDIOS in 2020 and then co-founded SONDER ℠ YOGA SCHOOL in 2022. Today it’s my duty, and an honor, to walk beside those who are ready for the kind of freedom that comes from turning inward with courage. Using the ancient wisdom of classical Yoga I help people sort out the overlap of simple and complicated lived experiences, truly see themselves, and discover the ways that their love ripples outward.
With a grateful heart, I humbly dedicate my work to my teachers, past and present.
